Iran introduced an initiative to settle the Syrian Crisis in order to confront accusations of stirring up regional instability. Iran also invested in promoting the positive consequences of the nuclear agreement. This included supporting opportunities to reach a settlement guaranteeing Iranian interests, as well as supporting the U.S. President’s efforts to convince Congress not to reject the nuclear agreement. However, the new initiative focuses on reaching a regional consensus to settle the Syrian Crisis in a way that guarantees the Syrian regime not be excluded.
