Return of Two Administrations: Expected Developments of the Political Crisis in Iraq's Kurdistan
The political crisis in Iraq's Kurdistan region was further exacerbated due to the escalating hassle between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) over several issues, namely the position of the parliament's speaker, and the system of government. Moreover, the current rapprochement between the Movement for Change (also known as Gorran) and the PUK party threatens to perpetuate these differences. Especially because it will bring about a change in the balance of power in the region that is not in the interest of the KDP party and eventually establish a two-administration system in the Kurdish region and block any separatist dreams.
