Dr. Nabil Fahmy is a career diplomat and served as the former foreign minister of Egypt from July 2013 till June 2014. He was Egypt’s ambassador to the United States from 1999–2008, and as envoy to Japan between 1997 and 1999.
During his service as foreign minister, he framed a strategy to reshuffle Egypt’s foreign policy, to ensure its strategic role within the region.
Dr. Fahmy also founded the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) at The American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2009. He has served as its founding dean from 2009-to 2022.
