Jihadist Leadership: Why has Tunisia become the biggest exporter of female fighters?
A recent phenomenon is Tunisia's export of a significant number of foreign fighters, estimated at 5,500, to conflict zones in the Arab region. This staggering number of Tunisian fighters raises a pertinent question: how could a country that still cherishes the legacy of its late president Habib Bourguiba, who granted Tunisian women openness and freedoms, export some 700 jihadist women, who have embarked on a variety of missions within terrorist organizations?
